9/1/2020 We are planning tentative training's for the boys that will begin with a focus on conditioning, flexibility, and rebuilding athleticism that may have fatigued over the long break. We anticipate 60-90 sessions that will consist of stretching, conditioning, and body weight/flexibility, adding stick skills and training when approved. DATE -TBD
We plan to have the boys arrive to their work out and proceed directly to their assigned "spot" Each player will have a designated space on the field, spaced every 5 yards using the South Sideline, South Hash, North Hash, and North Sideline so that each player keeps a roughly 15' space between them.
It is imperative that our players and parents understand the responsibility to maintain and adhere to these protocols so that we can do our best to ensure our ability to start and continue to train.
Each player will need to go through their teamsnap checklist prior to each workout. Each player will need to make sure as they enter and exit the facility that they are masked and keep proper social distancing. When on the field, players will remain masked until the "solo physical exertion" portion of the training. At that time, we recommend they continue to wear their mask if possible.
Players who need a mask provided, please email me.
Coaches will remain masked throughout the training.
We will be placing players into small groups as we get into more skill training later on, and to enable us to best do that, please respond to this email with a list of your 10 closest contacts on the team. This would be things like other players you carpool with, players you see outside of our practice time, other players who you may study with or tutor, work with, etc.
If you are uncomfortable with these we will need to provide an alternative for your son. In preparation for this, we ask that your son start the following stretching, flexibility, and light conditioning routine to get ready to be back on the field soon. - Return to Play Home Work (start now)- Dynamic Stretches - https://kidshealth.org/en/teens/stretching-vd.html

8/14/2020 Update ALL LACROSSE PLAYERS ALL PLAYERS MUST BE ENROLLED IN LACROSSE PE Lacrosse PE Freshmen tell your councilor that you will be playing lacrosse and that you want Lacrosse PE for your 7th period class. Our practices will most likely be in the evenings or late afternoons.
With the current Covid restrictions we are not certain yet, but we hope to be back on the field to do conditioning following a strict county guideline procedure that we are waiting on approval for. I'm cautiously optimistic that when school starts we will be able to have our guys meeting then or soon after.
For now, make sure you complete all the following contact forms, that will help us stay up to date with everything. Returning Players will need to make sure they update their 8to18 as well as have a current physical on file.
We will have a team program for the kids on the equipment, sticks, apparel, etc coming very soon.
Please let me know if you have any other questions. Hope to see our Mustang Family soon!

CIF and the CIF Southern Section released and updated sports calendar for the upcoming school year. Although we do not yet know what the state, our local county, and our school district will allow, CIF has put out the dates of the Fall, Winter, and Spring sports.
In this outline the sports have all been adjusted into 2 seasons vs 3. Traditional Fall Sports for the most part have been shifted to start in January and play through March, with traditional Winter and Spring sports starting in Mid March and playing through mid to late June (potentially after graduation and the end of the current school year calendar).
This will be a challenge and this is going to effect a lot of things, but rest assured that we as coaches at Mira Costa will work to make sure we provide the best solution for our student athletes. To our multiSport athletes, I want them to know we will work with all of the programs at Costa to make sure you are able to compete in all of your sports. The Mira Costa athletic department will have a zoom meeting Wednesday evening to discuss this and get an update from them on the situation.
